The official 8-Ball rules, as sanctioned by the Billiard Congress of America (BCA) and the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA), govern competitive play and are a widely accepted standard. The game's objective is to pocket all balls from your assigned group (solids or stripes) and then legally pocket the 8-ball.
